About Turunç&Surroundings

Turunç is a popular Turkish holiday resort situated in the Marmaris district of Muğla Province, Turkey.

It is located 20 km (12 mi) south of Marmaris on the Mediterranean sea, surrounded by the Taurus Mountains. The area is a former fishing village, and has been populated since ancient times as the sea offers a variety of precious resources. Despite the region’s fast development in recent years, the natural beauty Turunç has been preserved. As a resort, the village has won the Blue Flag award in recognition of its clean beach and water quality. The size of Turunç is about 1 km (0.62 mi), taking half an hour to walk from one side to the other. The waterfront features restaurants, bazaars and bars, however due to the nature of the resort there are few exclusively adult establishments.

The climate is warm, and enables the tourist season to be 7 months a year from April to October.

The heart of Turunç is its waterfront, with a little quay home to bobbing sailboats at one end of the horseshoe-shaped bay. Take a boat trip to see historic ruins at nearby Dalyan, or spend a tranquil day swimming and sunbathing at the beach. The incredibly clear, warm water is perfect for water sports and snorkelling. The rugged scenery that surrounds Turunc invites adventure, with plenty of places to hike, ride or drive. In the evenings, visit a Turkish restaurant on the waterfront to try the local specialties and relax with a drink looking out over the bay.

TURUNÇ IS BEST FOR…

Families: With its golden beach, bustling markets and outdoor activities, Turunç is ideal for sun-drenched family getaways.

Couples: Peaceful and more secluded than some of Turkey’s bigger resorts, Turunç is a romantic setting for two.

Explorers: Whether you’re interested in exploring beneath the crystal clear waters or hiking in the hills, Turunç is a playground for the adventurous.
